Representing Injured Workers In Central Illinois
Permanent total disability (PTD) is considered a permanent and complete loss of use of both hands, arms, feet, legs, eyes or any two such parts. It is also a complete disability that makes it impossible for the employee to perform any type of work for which there is a reasonably stable market.
Paying out PTD benefits is extremely costly for the employer and its insurance carrier. You will need an attorney who is willing to fight for the benefits you deserve after this terrible loss. The workers’ compensation attorneys at Frederick & Hagle can help. Please call 1-800-642-1227 or contact us online to schedule a free initial consultation with our Champaign disability lawyers.
You Can Receive Wage Loss Benefits For Life
Workers with PTD may be awarded weekly benefits of two-thirds of the statewide average weekly wage (SAWW) for life. This benefit is subject to minimum and maximum amounts:
- The minimum PTD benefit is 50 percent of the SAWW at the time of your injury.
- The maximum PTD benefit is 133 1/3 percent of the SAWW at the time of your injury.
PTD is a wage loss benefit that can be paid out for the rest of your life. Because this is a huge expense, your employer will try to deny your claim. With our help, however, you can prove the extent of your injuries. We gather the necessary medical information to demonstrate the effect of the injuries on your ability to work. In addition, we obtain your employment records to show the salary you were earning at the time you were injured.
