Serious Illinois truck accident involves multiple vehicles
On behalf of Jeffrey Frederick of Frederick & Hagle posted in Truck Accidents on Wednesday, July 1, 2015.
Many drivers may become apprehensive around large trucks that are traveling the roadway. These vehicles can easily block other travelers, and, if a driver is not paying attention, an accident could occur. Additionally, a truck accident is also a risk if a driver is suffering from fatigue. Falling asleep at the wheel is a serious danger, and parties could suffer injuries as a result.
It was recently reported that an accident in Illinois took place due to a truck driver falling asleep. The incident occurred at approximately 5 a.m. in a construction zone. The truck driver was traveling behind other vehicles when he fell asleep, and as a result, the truck caused a crash involving 13 other vehicles.
It was not specifically noted how many individuals were injured in the accident. It was mentioned that none of those injuries were considered life-threatening. One person involved in the accident suffered a broken neck and clavicle and reported experiencing other pain. At the time of the report, no citations or charges had been filed, but authorities are continuing to look into the event and additional information may be available at a later time.
Because at least one person was seriously injured in the truck accident, civil claims could result from the incident. The woman who suffered the broken bones may wish to file a personal injury claim against the driver in order to seek compensation for medical bills and other related damages. Information about filing such claims in Illinois could prove beneficial to her and other parties who were seriously injured in the unfortunate accident.
