Possible drunk driving accident causes fatality in Illinois

ofAlcohol-related accidents result in numerous fatalities every year. The families of the victims lost in such crashes can feel immense emotional upheaval and financial struggles can also be harrowing results. A drunk driving accident can be even more devastating than other incidents as the choice to not drink and drive could possibly have prevented such a tragedy.
An accident in Illinois recently claimed the life of one individual. It was reported that a vehicle left the roadway and overturned numerous times. It came to a stop on its roof after landing on a frozen lagoon. Part of the guardrail in the area was apparently missing. The crash took place just before 2 a.m. and occurred close to the Lincoln Park Zoo.
Emergency crews went out onto the frozen lagoon and removed the two occupants from the mangled vehicle. The passenger unfortunately suffered fatal injuries and later succumbed to those injuries at an area hospital. The driver was also seriously injured but is now considered to be in fair condition. There are charges pending against the driver of the vehicle as police suspect that alcohol played a role in the crash.
Though the results of a drunk driving accident are often tragic, each one is no less devastating than the last. The family members of the Illinois victim will have to work toward coming to terms with their sudden loss and the struggles with which they will likely be presented. Legal actions in the form of wrongful death claims could potentially help families like theirs on their journeys by allowing them to seek compensation for their losses, financial struggles, and other related damages.
