It was recently reported that a pedestrian was struck by an SUV in Illinois. The accident resulted in the pedestrian suffering serious injuries, and as a result, he may wish to consider his legal options. Taking action in order to seek justice for the damages incurred may help the injured party move on from the incident more easily.
The incident reportedly took place around 6:30 a.m. when a man and woman were walking on a street. While walking, the man was hit from behind by the SUV. The SUV continued traveling and struck two cars that were parked on the curb. These collisions caused the SUV to overturn onto its side. The driver left the scene, but was later apprehended by police.
The pedestrian suffered multiple injuries in the incident. Those injuries included broken ribs, head injuries, a punctured lung and others. It was reported that he was subsequently released from the hospital. The driver of the SUV is currently facing multiple charges, including DUI, leaving the scene of an accident, reckless driving and more. At the time of the report, the man was still in custody on a $30,000 bond.
The serious injuries that the man suffered in this incident could lead to medical bills, lost wages due to time away from work, pain and suffering and other damages. Therefore, he may wish to file a personal injury claim against the driver considered responsible in order to seek compensation for damages permitted under Illinois law. Gathering more information on such an option may help him determine whether he would like to move forward in such a manner.
