Motor Vehicle Accidents
Champaign Uninsured Motorist Attorneys
You Have Options And Rights As A Policyholder
Minimum amounts of liability insurance are required by Illinois law, but that does not mean that every driver has purchased it. Far too many drivers are uninsured. When they cause accidents, the other drivers may find themselves in debt for medical expenses and property damage.
At Frederick & Hagle, our attorneys help people who are in vehicle accidents caused by uninsured and underinsured drivers. We know that getting an insurance company, even your own insurance company, to pay the amount you deserve is challenging. Please call 1-800-642-1227 or contact us online to schedule a free initial consultation with a Champaign uninsured motorist lawyer.
Your Own Insurance Policy May Have You Covered
You are required to have liability insurance with minimum coverage of $20,000 per person ($40,000 total per accident) for bodily injury. You must have at least $15,000 of coverage per accident for vehicle and property damage you cause. Unfortunately, many accidents are caused by drivers who are driving illegally without this coverage.
Illinois drivers are also required to have uninsured motorist insurance (UM) bodily injury coverage with their policy. The minimum amounts are $20,000 per person ($40,000 total per accident). If you have UM coverage, we will make a claim with your auto insurance company if you are hit by an uninsured or underinsured driver.
Optional coverage you may purchase includes medical payments (med pay). If you have med pay coverage, we can file a claim for injuries or death caused by the uninsured driver. Medical and funeral expenses may be covered for you and your family members, whether you are passengers, pedestrians or cyclists.
We have the experience to review your auto insurance policy and determine how much compensation you are entitled to receive. If your own insurance company denies your valid claim, we can pursue a bad faith claim against it.
