ofThough some drivers may find posted traffic directions cumbersome, those directions and limits are set for safety reasons. If a roadway is considered to have a high risk of potential accidents, the speed limit in that area will likely be lower than in other areas. As a result, drivers should reduce their speeds in order to comply and better ensure their safety and that of their passengers. Unfortunately, too often a driver disregards posted signs, and a car accident follows.
An accident in Illinois recently led to the death of a 17-year-old girl. It was reported that the girl was inside an SUV with six other occupants as the vehicle descended a hill. As the vehicle was traveling, it overturned. Specific details regarding the accident were not disclosed, but it was noted that the incident took place at approximately 8 p.m.
One individual suffered fatal injuries, and the six others were transported from the scene to be treated for their injuries. The other teens are expected to recover. It was mentioned that the speed limit of the area was 25 mph, and it is presumed that speeds exceeding this limit were a factor this in fatal crash. At this time, the incident is still being explored.
As more information about the Illinois car accident is revealed, the family of the decedent may ponder whether pursuing legal action could be a step they wish to take. They may be able to file a wrongful death claim against the driver of the vehicle and/or parties responsible for the vehicle involved in the accident. By pursing a civil case, the family may be able to work toward gaining restitution for funeral costs, other expenses and their emotional hardships.
