Illinois car accident involves multiple drivers, all injured

ofWhen a driver is waiting to make a left turn, he or she will often need to stop in the roadway in order to wait until it is safe to turn. Unfortunately, some drivers may not see the stopped vehicle or not reduce their speed enough, and as a result, a car accident can occur. Depending on the circumstances of the accident, multiple vehicles could possibly be involved.
A similar situation recently took place in Illinois when a vehicle waiting to make a turn was hit by another vehicle. Reports indicated that a 75-year-old male driver was waiting to make the turn when a vehicle approaching from behind struck his vehicle. The approaching 17-year-old driver allegedly tried to maneuver around the stopped vehicle to avoid the collision but was not able to do so. After the initial collision, the second vehicle also collided with another pickup truck.
All three drivers involved in the accident suffered injuries as a result. The extent of the injuries was not disclosed, but it was mentioned that all three individuals were transported from the scene by ambulance. At this time, the 17-year-old has received a citation for failure to reduce his speed.
Because this car accident resulted in injuries, the injured parties may consider seeking compensation for damages. If this is a path they wish to follow, filing personal injury claims against the driver deemed at fault could be a viable option. Should their cases be successful, they could potentially gain financial reparations for medical bills and other damages permitted under Illinois law.
