Illinois bicycle accident leads to man’s death

Bicycling can often be considered a great form of exercise, and for some, bicycling is also their mode of transportation. Because cyclists are more difficult to see than individuals in vehicles, they could be at an increased risk of being involved in a bicycle accident. Such accidents can often lead to serious injuries due to the lack of protection provided to cyclists when faced with an approaching vehicle.
A similar accident in Illinois recently took place that resulted in the death of a 44-year-old man. It was reported that the man was riding his bicycle east when he was hit by a turning vehicle. The accident took place at approximately 12:45 a.m., and the cyclist was transported from the scene due to injuries.
Unfortunately, the injuries that the man suffered were fatal, and he was declared dead at an area hospital. At this time, the driver of the vehicle has been given a citation for failure to reduce speed. There have been no charges filed in relation to the accident as of yet, but authorities are continuing to investigate. Once the investigation concludes, authorities may have more information on whether charges could be considered appropriate.
As this situation shows, a bicycle accident can occur suddenly and have the worst possible outcome. While the investigation into the Illinois incident is being conducted by the authorities, the family of the victim may wish to find out more about their options in the wake of the fatal event. They may wish to consider a wrongful death claim against the driver deemed at fault, which could allow them to seek compensation for damages resulting from the accident.
