A flat tire on I-57 results in 2 killed pedestrians in Champaign

Many residents of Champaign, Illinois, may have noticed a severe backup in traffic last night. Tragically, this back up resulted when the northbound lanes of Interstate 57 were closed for about three hours following a fatal pedestrian accident.

Illinois pedestrian safety surrounding stalled vehicles

When a pedestrian is matched against a heavy mass of metal and glass on wheels traveling at 60 miles per hour, it is not difficult to imagine which party would come out on top in that scenario. Pedestrian accidents can be absolutely devastating at lower speeds, but at speeds used on highways, it is most often the case that a struck pedestrian is killed.

Scary Halloween accident statistics

Little pirates and pumpkins all across Illinois are beside themselves with excitement as they eagerly anticipate a night of treat-or-treating ahead of them on this Halloween evening. Parents are likely most concern about tainted candy and an epidemic of belly aches from too much candy, but what parents in Illinois should be most concerned about is pedestrian safety.
