Car accident leaves passenger with fatal injuries in Illinois

ofMany individuals never expect to be involved in a car crash. Though these types of events take place multiple times every day, they are often sudden situations that individuals could not have seen coming. In addition to the shock of being involved in a car accident, it is possible that individuals could suffer serious or fatal injuries that affect numerous people.
A fatal accident recently took place in Illinois that involved two vehicles. The incident apparently took place at an intersection as one vehicle was traveling north and the other vehicle was traveling west. The collision caused the northbound vehicle to go into the air before overturning. It was unclear which vehicle may have had the right of way at the time of the incident.
There was one individual in the westbound vehicle and two occupants of the northbound vehicle. All of the individuals were taken from the scene to an area hospital, and a passenger in the northbound vehicle was declared dead. The extent of the other individuals’ injuries were not described in the report. Authorities were continuing to investigate, and more information may be available later.
The family of the individual killed in this Illinois car accident will likely have many decisions to make. Among those decisions may be whether to follow through with filing a legal claim against the driver considered at fault. A wrongful death claim could be warranted, and if successful, the claim could allow the family to be awarded compensation for permissible damages. Information on their legal options may help them during the decision-making process.
