Injured employee still in hospital after explosion

A good scare is the hallmark of a festive Halloween for most people in Illinois. For one man, the terror was all too real. A seasonal worker at an out-of-state haunted trail suffered catastrophic injuries when he was involved in an explosion at his work place. The injured employee is currently still in the hospital, and the attraction continued to operate shortly after the incident.

The Halloween attraction Psycho Path includes several different experiences for visitors, all of which are put on and maintained by their workers. The employee in question was located in a barn on the attraction’s property when the explosion took place. It did not appear as though he was putting on a display for visitors when he attempted to open a large multi-gallon drum with a blow torch, which ultimately led to the explosion.

The name and age of the injured worker have yet to be released. Psycho Path did release a statement shortly afterward, expressing its concern for the victim and his family.It then noted that it would continue to operate as normal despite the deadly accident. At last update, the man was still listed in critical condition.

No matter the place of employment, all employees in Illinois should be equipped with the necessary equipment, knowledge and safety gear to perform their job properly. In the absence of any of these, devastating tragedies such as this can occur in as little as the blink of an eye. If an injured employee was harmed while carrying out the course of his or her work duties, workers’ compensation can be a safety net that provides support until such a time as he or she is recovered enough to return to work.
