Illinois train accident results in multiple injuries

Unfortunately, many people will suffer some sort of injury in their lifetimes. These injuries may result from simple situations, such as falling, or could be the outcome of a more serious incident, such as a train accident. If serious injuries result due to the actions of another individual, the injured parties may have cause to pursue legal action to seek recompense.

A recent accident took place in Illinois that resulted in multiple injuries. Reportedly, a semi-truck collided with a train after the truck failed to stop at a railroad crossing. Witnesses apparently claimed that the crossing guards were lowered and the lights were flashing when the truck failed to stop. The collision caused fuel from the train to spill.

The incident resulted in the driver of the semi-truck, the train conductor and the train engineer suffering injuries. The severity of those injuries was not disclosed in the report, but all three individuals were transported to an area hospital. The driver of the truck was issued a citation for failing to stop at the railroad crossing and other related violations.

A train accident can have the potential to cause severe damage, and it is lucky that no fatalities resulted from this incident. However, the injured parties can still face considerable hardships themselves as they recover from their injuries. If the injured parties who were on the train wish to seek compensation, they may be able to file civil claims against the truck driver considered at fault for the accident. Such a claim could help them to seek compensation for medical bills, lost wages or other damages permitted under Illinois law.
