Pedestrian accidents: Woman, children killed in Illinois

Individuals who get to certain destinations by walking know that there are times when crossing a street may be necessary. Many streets have crosswalks that pedestrians can utilize when getting from one point to another. Sadly, a crosswalk cannot provide much protection for pedestrians, and individuals could be hit by a vehicle. In pedestrian accidents, serious or fatal injuries are not unlikely, and information on legal action may soon prove helpful.

An incident in Illinois may have loved ones of three individuals seeking information. It was reported that a woman and two young children were crossing a street when they were hit by a truck. The report did not indicate the ages of the children involved, but the woman was apparently 30 years old. It was also noted that the truck driver did not stop immediately after the incident.

Sadly, the woman and two children suffered fatal injuries. All three were taken to area hospitals, but they unfortunately succumbed to the injuries that they suffered. It was not mentioned whether the truck driver will face any charges relating to the incident, but authorities will likely continue to investigate to determine whether charges may be applicable.

Coming to terms with the results of pedestrian accidents can be difficult for individuals who have lost loved ones. The emotional trauma may be immense, and on top of those struggles, financial hardships may arise due to funeral expenses and other costs. Therefore, if the family of the victims feel it may be the right step for them, filing a civil claim and seeking compensation may be a wise step. Information should be available from local resources in Illinois as to how to go about filing such a claim.
