Illinois car accident has serious results

Individuals of any age could potentially be involved in a car wreck that leads to serious or fatal injuries. Many parents may worry that their teen drivers could be particularly susceptible to such a car accident, and in some cases, that worry is warranted. When teenagers are killed or seriously injured in crashes, their families may wonder how to handle the situation.
It was recently reported that a car accident in Illinois resulted in injuries and one death. Apparently, the accident involved only one vehicle, and the driver of that vehicle was reported as being a 17-year-old boy. There were at least two passengers in the car at the time of the incident. The driver reportedly lost control, and the vehicle traveled sideways into a ditch. After hitting the ditch, the car flew into the air and struck a pole before stopping on its side in a field.
The driver of the car suffered fatal injuries in the accident and was declared deceased on the accident site. An 18-year-old passenger suffered what were presumably minor injuries and was treated and released. The second passenger was reported as being a 16-year-old boy, and he had to be rescued from the vehicle by emergency crews. He was also injured and transported from the scene by helicopter.
Though the driver of the vehicle was killed in the car accident, the family of the seriously injured passenger may still have options for pursuing a personal injury claim, if they wish to do so. Filing such a claim against the estate of the driver, the owner of the vehicle and/or other liable parties may help them seek compensation for allowable damages. Information on taking this type of civil action in Illinois may help them better understand their options.
